Governor Abbott and UT President Take Strong Stand Against Anti-Israel Demonstrators

Governor Abbott expressed his unwavering support for Israel, stating, "I have been a strong and vocal advocate in support of Israel, and in underscoring how important it is for Texas to always stand with our most important ally in the Middle East." He applauded the swift actions taken against the protestors at the University of Texas, where over 200 students protested, leading to 55 arrests. UT President Jay Hartzell emphasized that the university stood firm in response to the prohibited actions of the protestors, stating, "The University did what we said we would do in the face of prohibited actions."

In response to the anti-Israel protests, Governor Abbott swiftly deployed law enforcement officers, stating, "Students joining in hate-filled, antisemitic protests at any public college or university in Texas should be expelled."
